A One-God Man

Mark 2:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Psalms 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD*S name is to be praised.

My Uncle Albert*s family had a wonderful little dog. His name was Blackie. He had a little white patch on his chest. He was affectionate with everyone. He was obedient. He was calm and quiet. He had a job. When my uncle told him twice a day to go get the cows he would run about a half mile to the pasture and round up the cows that were to be milked. He knew which ones were to be milked and didn*t bother the other cattle. Sometimes my uncle or my cousins and I would walk along. It took Blackie longer to get the job done when any of us were with him. We slowed him down. When he got the milk cows into the barn my uncle would say good dog Blackie. When my uncle said those three words Blackie went nuts. He ran circles around my uncle twice as fast as he had run to the pasture. His tail was probably wagging faster than he was running. He was overjoyed by just that little attention from my uncle. After he ran like that for a minute or so he would come and lie down at my uncle*s feet. My uncle would pet him for a moment. Blackie would quiver with excitement at being petted by his master. I have never seen anything like it. Blackie loved everybody but he loved my Uncle Albert with all his being.

Lord help me to feel toward you the way Blackie felt toward my Uncle Albert. Help me not to let other people take your rightful place in my life. Lord help me to always be loyal to you and seek my direction from you. Help me to guard my time with you in prayer and the Bible. Thank you for not dealing with me according to my sin. Thank you for loving me in spite of my missing the mark. Help me to be a One-God man.
